“Parenting is f**king hard”

what is child-parent relationship therapy (CPRT)?

Parenting is f**king hard… and delightful… and awe-inspiring… and often isolating.

CPRT is a parenting training model taught in a small group of parents in 1.5 hour sessions over the course of 10-12 weeks. Each week parents swap stories of the joys, trials, and triumphs of being a parent while learning specific skills that focus on enhancing a secure attachment with your child. These skills help parents attune and respond to your child's underlying needs, foster independence, and set limits for safety and learning responsibility.

A lovely blog post about CPRT

who is CPRT for?

Research studies have shown CPRT can

  • enhance the parent-child relationship and/or family relationships

  • develop responsibility and self-control in children

  • increase children’s self-esteem and self-confidence

  • increase parents’ or caregivers’ feelings of warmth for their children

  • reduce or eliminating behavior problems

More information about the CPRT model from the University of North Texas’ Center for Play Therapy.
